High school workshop "Fish Fest" receives two years of additional funding from the NM Department of Wildlife

CSI Collaborator Dan Shaw and Research Assistant Professor Emma Elliott Smith are awarded a $50,000 grant from the NM Department of Wildlife to fund "Rio Grande Fish Ladder - An Education Component of Fish, Floodplains, and People.” This grant will support an annual summer program bringing NM high schoolers from public and private schools to do science that matters beyond the classroom. Students will participate in field sampling of local fishes and aquatic ecosystems, prepare and analyze their samples at CSI, and develop and present outreach activities based on their findings for the general public.
